As we finished up our ancient civilization PBL we celebrated with some hot cocoa! Everyone did great on their presentations. You will have an opportunity to see the civilization they made at the APTT meeting next month!
Today we played with Legos for the first time!! The kids LOVED it.
Legos help develop your child's cognitive development and refine key motor skills. Research shows that this kind of spacial thinking is a highly important predictor of achievement within the STEM field. You also tend to see more creativity and divergent thinking from those that play with Legos. This comes from creating their own structures, coming up with their own games, using their imagination to create characters and situations. Legos are not just for kids! There are many benefits for the adult brain as well. Many engineers will say that Legos were one of their earliest inspirations towards launching their career. In fact, MIT use legos to help in building design.

Today was the last day of music :( For the past few months we have had Mr. Lu, a music education student from UOP come to our class every Wednesday and Friday for 30 minutes. The kids learned how to read music and the culminating event was their performance. Take a look at all the cool songs they made!
We are finishing our research on Ancient Civilizations and today we worked on our interactive notebooks. Students got to put down their computers and worked on their cutting and gluing skills.
